SUMMARY

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through associated personnel. This function will interface daily with virtually every department in the company. As such, the incumbent must be a strong team player and always mindful of accomplishing the objectives of the project. This function will be essential to the smooth progression of projects and must demonstrate reliability by being timely, dependable and cooperative to other company personnel. Leading by example will be needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reviews project proposal or contracts/purchase orders with estimating manager to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.

Oversee and manage overall document control system for company quotes and jobs.

Do material take-offs as required to produce electronic master material lists to facilitate fully documented packing lists are produced for QA/QC inspection and pre-shipping inspection. The objective is to ensure that 100% of project materials and components are properly packaged and shipped to the customer.

Oversee system to ensure that all job specifications are met, material/parts are properly piece marked etc. Recommend changes as needed to improve efficiency and/or quality of produced products and systems.

Confers with estimating manager and/or production supervisor to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and time table, etc.

Working with the production supervisor, tracks man-hours spent vs. budgeted and cost vs. cost budgeted and provide corrective direction and guidance to involved persons.

Order all job related materials, expedite as needed, coordinates deliveries to augment the completion of projects to satisfy customer driven delivery requirements. Ensures that all orders are properly placed, confirmed and entered through proper accounting procedures.

Coordinates with Shop Supervisor to ensure projects progress on schedule and within prescribed budget.

Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required. Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.

Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.

Receive all initial bid requests, and log into tracking system and deliver to estimating for bid estimate purposes.

Ensure that all quotes are properly issued, logged and documented with complete distributions as required.

Coordinate with accounting to ensure that job cost tracking is accurate and current. Provide fill-in support to assist accounting with project related tasks as needed.

Develop, manage and maintain collection/distribution database that compares job costs with cost basis estimates for the purpose of refining and improving the estimating system.

Develop, manage and maintain a system for tracking and effectively utilizing "drop" material to the company's greatest advantage.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises Shop Supervisor, Estimators, and Project Personnel. Directs Project Designers through Design Supervisor on Projects under their Senior Project Manager responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical specifications, financial reports, and contract documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community. Ability to write procedures, policies, speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management and customer managers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to work with computers and related hardware is essential. Strong knowledge of software systems is fundamental to accomplishment of efficient project control and administration. Incumbent must have Word for Windows (word processing), Excel (spreadsheet), Approach (database) conceptual skills and be capable of adapting software to satisfy project administration and/or overall company needs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Included are safety glasses, hearing protection, respiratory protection via half or full-face chemical cartridge respirators, safety shoes, work or chemical resistive gloves and body protection.
